I don't have experience like "leading at the edge". Of course, I went through some severe situations, but I don't think I solved those problems by teamwork or leading skill. So I want to just write what I think when I read "Preface", not describe my experience.
Though title of this book is "Leading At The Edge", the author supposes the leading skills will be used at "The Center", and I was impressed that point. In page xiv, the author says "Leading at the Edge will demonstrate how these leadershp lessons can be applied to organizations confronting such contemporary challenges as competition, economic uncertainty, and the need for constant innocation, growth, and change", and in the same page, he seems to define "Edge" as "condition of ambituity, uncertainty, and change" From these description, I think he means these situation can exist not only in remote regions but in cities.
So we should learn something and think critically when we read this book, not only enjoy the story. And we should use the leading skills we learned. I thought I have to be active when I read this book.
